Capturing the Summer Magic

4 Ways to Craft Your Summer Memories with Park and Crown

The sun is shining, school is out, and the summer holidays are finally here! While summer is full of bright days and family adventures, it also brings the perfect opportunity to slow down, get creative, and capture those special moments together.

At Park and Crown, we love finding ways to express joy, celebrate family, and capture moments that matter. This summer, instead of just letting the days slip by, why not turn your summer memories into beautiful, handcrafted keepsakes?

Here are four fun, family-friendly summer craft ideas using our favorite everyday items like tees, journals, cups, and stickers!

1. Try hosting a “Family and Friends Tie-Dye or Fabric Paint Day”.

Nothing says summer like bright, vibrant colors. Creating custom family T-shirts is the perfect way to kick off a summer vacation, a family reunion, or a backyard BBQ.

Take a blank cotton T-shirt and let the kids go to town! You can use a backyard tie-dye kit for that retro summer look or grab some fabric markers and stencils to paint custom designs, family names, or summer to do or (to done) lists right onto the shirts. Every time they wear it to the beach or the park, they’ll remember the fun afternoon they spent making it.

2. Start a Summer "Joy & Adventure" Journal.

Summer goes by in a flash, and kids see the world with so much wonder. A summer journal is a perfect way to log the fun, practice gratitude, and keep up with writing skills in a fun way.

Grab a dedicated notebook or journal and make it a daily or weekly routine. Kids can write down their favorite part of the day, press a flower they found on a walk, or tape in movie tickets and polaroids (oops, I’m telling my age). Let them personalize the cover with their name, drawings, or cool summer theme phrases. It’s a great way to pause, connect, and practice faith and gratitude for the sunny days. Plus, you’ll cherish reading what they wrote years down the road.

3. Design DIY Floating-Glitter Cold Cups.

Staying hydrated during hot summer days is important, but it's much easier to do when you're drinking out of a cool, custom cup you designed yourself!  Take a double-walled clear tumbler and use vinyl stickers, waterproof decals, or oil-based paint pens to decorate the outside with summer shapes like sunshine, palm trees, or motivational faith quotes. For an extra touch, you can add water, a drop of glycerin, and glitter between the plastic walls to create a mesmerizing floating glitter cup. It's a craft they will actually use every single day at the pool, beach, or park.

4. Create a Personalized Summer Sticker Collage.

Kids absolutely love stickers, and creating a summer sticker book/ board or decorating every surface in the house is a classic rite of passage. Collect stickers from the different places you visit this summer—zoos, state parks, ice cream shops—or print out your own custom designs that represents your family's favorite things. Let the kids collage them onto a reusable water bottle, a skateboard, or a special summer poster board. It serves as a map of all the fun memories and places you visited over the summer.
